What is hypoallergenic dry dog food?

Hypoallergenic dog food is formulated to minimise the risk of food sensitivities. It doesn't guarantee a food will suit every dog, but it does mean the recipe is built around clear, carefully chosen ingredients rather than anonymous fillers. WITHIN dry food is hypoallergenic and designed to be gentle on sensitive stomachs. Each recipe is built around named chicken or salmon, rather than vague "meat and animal derivatives", so you always know exactly which protein your dog is eating. That clarity matters for dogs with sensitivities, because a clearly labelled recipe makes it far easier to spot a potential trigger. Our kibble is also made without added wheat, dairy, soya, artificial colours or flavours. Every bag contains omega 3 and 6 to support a shiny coat and healthy skin, and yucca to help reduce stool and flatulence odour. If your dog has a diagnosed food allergy, speak to your vet before changing their diet.
26% freshly prepared meat, never rendered meal

Every bag of WITHIN dry dog food contains 26% freshly prepared chicken or salmon. The species is named on the label and matches the recipe, so chicken is chicken and salmon is salmon. We never use meat meal. Meat meal is a rendered, dried and powdered ingredient that's cheap and shelf-stable, but the heavy processing it goes through can reduce the quality of its protein. Freshly prepared meat stays closer to its natural state, giving your dog quality protein in every bowl. It's why every bag carries the same promise: 26% meat, never meat meal.
Why we use whole oats (and why our kibble isn't grain free)

All dog kibble needs a carbohydrate to bind it together, so the real question is which one, and at what quality. WITHIN dry food uses whole oats rather than the corn or wheat found in many kibbles. Oats are a wholegrain source of fibre and energy that most dogs digest well. That means our dry food isn't grain free, and we're clear about that on every bag. If your dog needs a grain free diet, our grain free wet dog food works well on its own or mixed with kibble.

FormulaBiotics™ is our bespoke blend of prebiotics, postbiotics, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, included in every bag of WITHIN dry food. Together they help to support digestive wellbeing and immunity, maintain a healthy gut microbiome and promote vitality. Every recipe also includes Bacillus velezensis, a gut flora stabiliser, along with seaweed extract rich in nutrients to support oral health, blueberry, rosemary and spinach as sources of antioxidants, and vitamins A and E to help support a healthy immune system.
Complete and balanced, for puppies and adult and senior dogs

Every WITHIN dry food is complete and balanced, so it can be fed as your dog's whole diet with nothing else needed. Our Puppy recipe (chicken, 2kg) is a hypoallergenic puppy food made for growing dogs. As a puppy dry food, it's fed by age and expected adult size, so follow the guide on the pack. Puppies move onto adult food between around 10 and 18 months, depending on their breed size. From there, our Adult & Senior recipes (chicken or salmon, 2kg and 10kg) take over, with glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM added to support healthy joint function and mobility. That makes them a natural choice as a dry dog food for senior dogs, too.

It's gentle on sensitive tummies too, so it's a good choice if you're looking for a puppy food for sensitive stomachs. Feed 3 to 4 meals a day, reducing to 2 meals from 6 months, following the feeding guide on the pack.
Is WITHIN dry dog food grain free?

No. Our dry food uses whole oats as its carbohydrate, instead of the corn or wheat found in many kibbles, and this is clearly shown on the label. If your dog needs a grain free diet, our wet dog food is grain free.
Can I mix WITHIN dry and wet dog food?

Yes. Mixing wet and dry dog food adds variety, texture and extra moisture to your dog's bowl. Both are complete and balanced, so you can combine them in any ratio. Our wet food is for adult and senior dogs, so for puppies, stick with our puppy dry food until they move onto adult food. Use our feeding calculator to work out the right daily amount of each for your dog.
How do I switch my dog to WITHIN dry food?

Introduce it gradually over 7 days. Start by mixing a small amount into your dog's current food, then increase the WITHIN portion a little each day until you've fully switched. Dogs with sensitive stomachs may benefit from an even slower change.
How much dry dog food should I feed my dog?

For adult and senior dogs, feed around 25 to 90g a day for toy dogs (1 to 5kg), 90 to 160g for small dogs (5 to 10kg), 160 to 310g for medium dogs (10 to 25kg), 310 to 480g for large dogs (25 to 45kg) and 480 to 850g for giant dogs (45 to 80kg). Puppy amounts depend on age and expected adult size, so check the guide on the pack. Adjust for your dog's age, condition and activity level, and always make fresh water available.
